“We were a group of four adults and the reviews were mixed. I guess the explanation of the ceremony was not fully understood by everyone including myself. I have watched Dervish performances in other countries and venues but this is not a performance but rather a ceremony between the Dervishes themselves. There is no audience participation, no photos etc. The audience is required to remain silent throughout and the ceremony was at times monotonous and tedious. I found it interesting albeit not very enjoyable.”

“We were picked up on time, just two of us in the minivan. A short drive to the beautiful caravanserai at Saruhan. The ceremony was mesmerising, with reed music and drum to start, while the dervishes prayed, before starting the whirling part of the ceremony. It was truy beautiful to watch. At the end, you are given a chance to take photos before having sherbet and visiting the small onsite shop. Our guide/ driver was excellent, and very attentive.
